American Electric Power In Good Shape Regarding New EPA Rules



rst national limits on carbon dioxide, seen as a major contributor to global warming, could be final by next year. The Environmental Protection Agency has rolled out a plan to cut carbon dioxide emissions from power plants by 30% by 2030. Indiana Michigan Power spokesman Brian Bergsma says they are in good shape as these rules get discussed.

The utility's Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman produces no emissions, which helps their overall numbers. Bergsma tells us it's way too early to speculate about the impact they could have on the overall industry.

It's hoped one result will be to prod other countries to act when negotiations on a new international treaty resume next year.
