Slumberland Furniture Donating Pillows To Foster Children

More than 200 foster children in Berrien County will be getting a pillow of their own this weekend through fundraising efforts by Slumberland Furniture. The idea for the "My Own Pillow" program came from a conversation between Mid-West Family Broadcasting sales representative Lorraine Day and a girl in the foster system according to Slumberland owner Jim Paul.

Day approached Slumberland, and Paul says they raised enough money and had enough pillows donated in May for between 200 and 300 to be donated on Saturday. The goal was to hand out 100 pillows to foster children in Berrien County. Paul says Slumberland corporate got involved as well through a social media campaign.

Along with monetary donations, the store also accepted pillow donations. For every three pillows donated, the store donated another, and for every six pillows sold in May, Slumberland also tossed in another donated pillow to the program. Slumberland will hold an event at 1 pm Saturday to donate the pillows at their Napier Avenue store.
