MSU Applications Set Record

Applications to Michigan State University are at an all-time high. The school has received over 33,000 applications for this fall, and sent out acceptance letters to just 7,800. MSU admissions director Jim Cotter told Michael Patrick Shiels Tuesday morning that there are only so many slots that are open.

Most incoming freshmen will still be from in-state.

The application figures are up 5% from last year, and the numbers of students seeking to attend MSU from out of state are up by 12%. This past year, there were over 49,000 people attending MSU. Just under 38,000 are undergraduate students, with 16.6% being minorities and 14.5% coming to the university from another country.
