Rally Held To Support Pinkney

About 80 people rallied Saturday in downtown Benton Harbor calling for activist Edward Pinkney be released from house arrest. The Benton Township man is on tether and awaiting trial. Pastor Charles Taylor of South Bend, Indiana led the rally in City Center Park.

Taylor says people came from all over the region Saturday calling for Pinkney's freedom. The activist was charged in April with five counts of election forgery charges for allegedly altering dates on five recall petitions against Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower. Berrien County Trial Judge John Dewane delayed the May 6 recall election until Pinkney’s charges are resolved.
