Benton Harbor City Commissioner Trenton Bowens announced he is stepping down from his elected position effective August 31. He tells the "Herald-Palladium" he suffers from a tremors disorder, and that he's had enough of the toxic atmosphere in City Hall. He says he doesn't want to be part of the hatred anymore. Bowens, who was elected to the 2nd Ward, was up for re-election in November 2015. He wanted to announce his intention to step down three months in advance to give himself time to get some things done including clean up of the City's slum landlords. Bowens says it's been an honor to serve and will release a letter to the residents in his district soon.
