Normandy Beach Landing Re-Enactment Planned In St. Joe

A World War II Normandy, France beach landing will be re-enacted at Tiscornia Beach in St. Joseph. Lee Scherwitz made the announcement Wednesday at the Lest We Forget monthly meeting.

An entire weekend of events and re-enactments are planned for the seventh tribute to veterans. It all starts Friday June 20. A Medal of Honor recipient from World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War will be on hand to give speeches. A number of flyovers, parachute jumps, and helicopter rides are also planned.

Scherwitz suggests you visit the campsites and interact with the re-enactors, most of whom are teachers.

Events will cover World War II, the Korean War, and the War in Vietnam. They'll be held at Southwestern Regional Airport in Benton Harbor and Tiscornia Beach in St. Joseph.
