Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Chief Milt Agay and his wife are now suing Oronoko Township. The lawsuit was filed in federal court Thursday, arguing Agay is being retaliated against by the township for opposing as yet undisclosed unlawful actions. Three months ago, consultant Peter Letzmann was hired by the township to investigate the police department, and his report is not yet finished. The township board will hold a special closed session meeting on Monday at noon. The lawsuit alleges a hostile work environment created by township supervisor Mike Hildebrand for allegedly interfering with the hiring of new police officers.
