Whirlpool Corporation To Recognize D-Day Veteran

To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, Whirlpool Corporation's Veteran's Association will hold a ceremony Friday to pass official flags to a local marching band and honor a D-Day veteran. The Lakeshore Lancers Marching Band of Stevensville is invited next month to march and play in Normandy, France. The Association along with Congressman Fred Upton, state Senator John Proos, and state Representative Al Pscolka will present the students with American and state of Michigan flags to take with them overseas. Larry Michael, a Whirlpool retiree and veteran of D-Day will be presented a check to assist him in paying a return trip to Normandy. The event begins 3:30 p.m. behind Whirlpool's Benton Harbor Riverview Campus in Fisherman's Park.
