An immeidate stay is being sought by the Berrien County Clerk's Office regarding the May 6th mayoral recall election in Benton Harbor. Clerk Sharon Tyler is asking that the election not be re-scheduled until a full examination of the petitions can happen and until after the criminal cases against Ed Pinkney and James Cornelius are resolved. Pinkney faces five misdemeanor charges for allegedly allowing people to sign recall petitions more than once and also is charged with felony election forgery. He is accused of changing dates on petitions. Cornelius faces a single misdemeanor for allegedly letting someone sign more than once and allowing people to sign without witnessing it.
