M-139 Cleanup Set For May 10

A cleanup of M-139 between I-94 and Napier is scheduled for early May. Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Tammie Howard says they have two hours scheduled for the trash pickup on Saturday, May 10.

Everyone will meet at the Target parking lot at 9 a.m. and be dispursed from there. Bags will be provided by Benton Township, and the township will also pick them up when they're full. As for anything else you'll need, Howard recommends bright-colored clothes and some tools like shovels to help dig out trash that has sunk into the ground thanks to all the snow over the winter. The cleanup is being done ahead of the Senior PGA Championship later next month and several other May events. Howard is hoping to have at least 80 volunteers, and recommends calling Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce to let them know how many people will be showing up.
