Fight For Equal Pay Rolls On

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow is continuing the fight for equal pay. She says pay discrimination against women is ridiculous. As women are still getting, on average, 77-cents of every dollar made holding the same job by a man.

She says discrimination in pay has a long lasting effect on women.

Earlier this week President Obama signed two executive orders to help protect federally contracted employees from gender discrimination in pay. But on Wednesday every Senate Republican voted to block the Senate from considering the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would reduce such discrimination. According to the National Partnership for Women and Families, discrimination in pay costs the average working woman in Michigan over $13,000 per year.
