Niles Man Convicted Of Operating While Intoxicated

A Niles man who knocked an 8-year old girl and her father off of their moving snowmobile and then left them to fend for themselves on a freezing winter day in Howard Township has been found guilty of drunk driving. The youngster and her dad were both taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A 6-person jury panel took approximately 15 minutes to find 60-year old Randall Womble guilty of one count of Operating While Intoxicated. Prosecuting Attorney Victor Fitz indicated that “It’s bad enough that he hit these folks with his car. It’s worse that he was drunk. And it’s inexcusable that an injured little girl and her father had to fend for themselves in the cold.” Womble was sentenced after the guilty verdict to 8 months probation.
