NWS: Be Prepared For Severe Weather

Since April is about when spring storms start to hit, the National Weather Service is reminding people to be prepared. Meterologist Jim Maczko is a warning coordinator for the NWS and says while you can download smartphone apps and watch weather websites, the best way to monitor severe storms is by listening to the radio or watching TV.


The National Weather Service advises everyone to buy an NOAA weather radio, and keep an emergency kit ready in case of a severe weather situation. The kit should include clothing, some food, flashlights, medicine, water, and a radio. You can find out more about proper storm preparation at
