Upton Recaps GM Hearings



Congress is now sifting through boxes of documents related to the recall of over 2.6 million General Motors vehicles following two days of testimony this week by the automaker's CEO, Mary Barra. Congressman Fred Upton noted the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing was much less tense than Wednesday's Senate hearing.

Upton says, however, lawmakers are upset by what they've learned in recent days about the faulty ignition switch part that prompted the recall.

General Motors says the cars are safe to drive, so long as you only have the ignition key on the keyring. Adding more could cause it to become too heavy and make the ignition slip into the off position.
