It's time for the annual April extended siren test for Cook Nuclear Plant. The sirens will sound for three minutes instead of one this Saturday at 1 p.m. The sirens will be going off for the extra time within the 10-mile radius Emergency Planning Zone of the plant in Bridgman. Plant officials also recommend looking through the emergency information calendar that Cook mails out to all businesses and homes in Berrien County at the start of the year to review what to do in the event of an emergency at the plant. The monthly siren tests normally go for about a minute, while in the event of a real emergency, they would go off for up to five minutes.
