Berrien County Trial Court Judge Art Cotter calls the crimes committed by Jerry Katt, Jr. of Baroda "reprehensible" and among the worst crimes he's seen in his career in law. Katt was sentenced Monday to at least 60 years in prison for sexually assaulting two boys for several years. The 35-year-old was sentenced as a habitual offender, as he has three felony convictions already on his record. According to the "Herald Palladium," the victims were not in court for sentencing on Monday but did provide written statements. One asked that Katt never be released from jail because he's afraid there would be other victims, while the other wrote that he fears for his life if Katt is paroled.
