The reactor is back on at Palisades. The nuclear plant was returned to service Sunday morning at 6:44 after a refueling and maintenance outage that lasted nearly 56 days. Entergy officials note during the outage, employees inspected all 45 control rod drive housings and had to replace 17 of them before the plant could be returned to service. Additionally, 64 fuel assemblies were removed and replaced in the reactor vessel. The outage also included the discovery of a piece of metal lodged in the reactor wall. It was determined that the foot-long piece would not have any impact on the safety of the plant. It came from a coolant pump.
