A small traffic infraction turned into jail time for an Ottawa County man this week. 27-year old Thomas Spangler of Holland was pulled over on 72nd Street near County Road 378 in Covert Township. The deputy making the stop suspected Spangler had been using drugs. It turns out Spangler was under the influence of methamphetamine. After arresting the driver for drugged driving, a search of the vehicle found finished meth, marijuana, and .45 caliber ammunition. On top of that the driver had a suspected license, and outstanding warrants for his arrest. Spangler sits in the Van Buren County jail, and has been charged with six counts so far and more may be piled on later. The case is closed at this time.
