Daylight Saving Time Starts Sunday Morning

It's time to "spring ahead" this weekend for Daylight Saving Time. Dr. Mark Goetting of Bronson Sleep Health in Portage says it's not too late to get your body and internal clock ready to lose an hour of sleep Saturday night.

Dr. Goetting notes research has found in the first several days after the time change, there are problems.

Heart attacks also go up by about 10%. Those are attributed to the disruption of natural biorhythms that regulate sleep and alertness, resulting in high levels of stress hormones and fatigue. Hormone changes can also bring about abnormal heart rhythms and clotting of blood vessels to the heart.
