BHAS Asked To Update Current Budget To Fit DEP



Recently Benton Harbor Area Schools submitted an updated Deficit Elimination Plan to the state of Michigan. Lansing has responded, and makes only one suggestion to their 15-year plan.

The reasoning behind the request is the district did not get the predicted amount of student enrollment on count day. To make up for this some cuts have been made, including three to four teachers at the high school. Superintendent Dr. Leonard Seawood says each cut is "very difficult." The amended budget will be voted on next week at the board's regular meeting.
