South Haven Ice Rink Cancels Free Skating Due To Vandalism

A few bad apples have ruined the whole bunch in South Haven. Vandalism has resulted in free skating being eliminated at the South Haven Ice Rink. The arena on Phoenix Street remains open for paid ice time and skate rentals, but staff members have decided to eliminate forever free skating opportunities after a lot of damage was done on Monday night. On the rink's Facebook page, they note there are now holes inside the building, the bathrooms were trashed and damaged and several fights broke out earlier this week. The message rips the vandals and others, saying quote, "you acted like unappreciative children," adding free skating was a gift from local businesses and staff. Our newsroom is attempting to get further comments from rink staff members.

Here is the full statement from the South Haven Ice Rink's Facebook page:

All future free skating is canceled. Those of you involved should feel ashamed and embarrassed. You acted like unappreciative children and this is the repercussions. Free skate is a gift from local businesses and the ice rink staff and we nor the rest of the town want to witness or be a part of your behavior. So to those involved I hope you take this as an opportunity to grow up and take responsibility for your actions as we as the ice rink staff are tired of doing nice things for the community only to have you ruin it.
