RNC Committeeman Agema Discusses Calls For Resignation

Embattled Michigan Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema continues to stand his ground against calls for his resignation, but may have been close to doing so. In a speech to a church in Fremont this week, Agema said his wife tried to get him to step down, saying they didn’t need the hassle.

Listen:

Agema has been under fire from the Republican establishment for several months over homophobic and anti-Muslim Facebook posts and speeches. Those calling for him to step down include Michigan Republican Party chairman Bobby Schostak, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus, former Michigan National Committeewoman Betsy Devos and nearly all of the state’s GOP members of Congress.

Listen:

He criticized the response from other Republicans to his social media posts and recent speeches, including an address to the Berrien County Republican Party late last year.

Listen:

Agema spoke at the church for over an hour and half, hitting topics from why he’s opposed to gay marriage to why he feels President Obama is a socialist out to destroy the country.
