Benton Harbor's MML Training Covers Parliamentary Procedure



Making motions, taking public comment, and proper voting procedures, these practices and more were discussed by the Benton Harbor City Commission and a contractor of the Michigan Municipal League Monday night. The roughly three-hour training session covered parliamentary procedure as the body gears-up to regain local control. Eleanor Siewert says there is only one circumstance when elected leaders can abstain from a vote, and that's conflict of interest.

There is no exact date when local control will return, but Mayor James Hightower says within the next few months.
