Gargano Family Credits God For Clan Of 10 Surviving Fire

Divine intervention. Phil Gargano is giving the credit to God for waking up his wife Lori early Sunday morning when their house in Bainbridge Township caught on fire, and rousing her in time to get the entire family of 10 outside to safety. Phil talked to WSJM News about how he, his wife and their eight kids between the ages of 12 and 4 are holding up.

Listen:

Overflow Church is spearheading many of the relief efforts for the family, including fundraising, who lost everything in the fire. A savings account has also been set up at Fifth Third Bank for the family. While Lori was able to get seven of their kids out of the inferno, she was unable to find their youngest, who is four. Phil went back in for her, and North Berrien Fire Chief Bob Ruff notes he found her in a hallway and managed to pull her out of the fire probably a few seconds before they wouldn't have been able to escape.

Listen:

Gargano says they have temporary housing thanks to the generosity of a friend at church.

Listen:

No one was hurt in the fire, but the house is a total loss. The Garganos plan to rebuild. To help the family, they request you send an email to bbennett@overflowchurch.org.
