William Hodge is the newest member of the board of the Berrien County Road Commission. He was selected from several finalists by a committee from the Berrien County Board of Commissioners to fill out the remainder of the term of Mike Kastner, who resigned last spring. Since that time, the road commission has been operating with just four appointed commissioners. The county board decided last fall against taking over the road commission over allegations of financial mismanagement and a slew of personnel problems. Instead, they gave new managing director Louis Csokasy roughly six months to make improvements and changes. The Berrien County Road Commission remains the subject of a federal investigation by the U.S. Department of Transportation for allegedly mismanaging federal highway dollars under a previous managing director.
