Benton Harbor Submits Emergency Loan Application To State Treasury

The City of Benton Harbor is taking the steps needed in requesting an emergency loan from the state of Michigan. Commissioner Marcus Muhammad says the $2.3-million loan is the wrong way to pay off the city's bills.

Deputy Director of Financial Services Jody Lundquist says that's not what's happening here.

The loan, if approved, would be at a rate of 2.8%. When it comes to current vendor bills, Lundquist says the city is up to date.
