Marrone Bio Innovations is now producing their flagship bioinsecticide Grandevo in Bangor. The company purchased a shuttered manufacturing plant in Van Buren County in July 2012 and began work a year and a half ago on renovations and expansions. According to MoodyOnTheMarket.com, production has very recently gotten underway. The company's $32-million expansion isn't complete yet, but it's done enough to start production. Future expansion phases at the Bangor plant will include production of the company's Regalia biofungicide, as well as increasing the capacity of the utilities and installling larger fermenters that will accommodate production of multiple products at higher volumes. Marrone officials say their bio-based pesticides are an "environmentally responsible" solution for farmers and help to control pests while improving plant health and increasing crop yields.
