Humane Society Of Southwestern Michigan Seeking $2 Million For New Facility

The Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan is in need of donors to step up and help the animals for which they're trying to find forever homes. The organization is completely funded by donations and is launching a $2 million fundraiser to build a new shelter on M-139 between John Beers and Marquette Woods roads. They've run out of space on South Crystal Avenue. The Humane Society recently purchased 5 acres of land for the new facility, and plan to break ground once the money needed for construction is raised. Officials say it costs $25,000 per month to keep the shelter going. If you want to donate to the efforts, call them at 927-3303. The Humane Society will be opening back up after the Christmas break at noon on Friday.
