Whirlpool Corporation is marking a decade of continuous perfect scores on the Human Rights Campaign's U.S. Corporate Equality Index. It is the first appliance company to receive a perfect score, which executives credit to Whirlpool's dedication to workplace equality. The index measures a company's efforts toward giving equal rights to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered employees .Whirlpool has offered domestic partner benefits since 2002 and has been a corporate leader nationwide on LGBT issues. It's PRIDE Network was established in 1999 and the Benton Harbor-based company is also the first appliance maker to feature same-sex families in its advertising in the U.S. In a statement, CEO and chairman Jeff Fettig says Whirlpool's efforts are "just a small part of a bigger movement," adding the compnay is "extremely proud to be among the index's top companies for another year."
