St. Joseph Floats Lighthouse Forever Campaign Short-Term $25K Loan

Efforts are now underway to raise $2 million to renovate the lighthouses on the North Pier in St. Joseph. Former Mayor Bob Judd went before the City Commission last night along with Bill Schalk of the Cook Nuclear Plant as representatives of the Lighthouse Forever marketing campaign.

Schalk asked the city to help kickstart their efforts with some seed money from the city's Special Projects Fund.

The money will be repaid within the next several months and will be used to handle expenses such as paying Fathom Works for developing the logo for the campaign and other initial expenses. Other than that short-term loan, there will not be any taxpayer dollars that are used to restore the lighthouses.
