19-year-old Fred Glespie of Benton Harbor is relieved following his acquittal in Kalamazoo on charges related to a fire that killed three little kids in February. Glespie had been charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse. He was dating the mother of the kids, Jonetta Woods, at the time. She claimed he had been asked to watch the children while she visited a friend, but the testimony of other witnesses conflicted with her statements. Glespie and Woods tried to save the children, but were unable to do so. All of the victims were three and younger, and one older child managed to survive. That little girl is in the custody of other relatives.
