Legislation Aims To Strengthen Health Care For Children And Families

The PREEMIE Reauthorization Act has passed the U.S. House and now heads to the Senate. Congressman Fred Upton sponsored the original legislation 8-years ago. According to the CDC an estimated half-million babies are born prematurely every year in the United States, that's one-in-evey-eight.

Since 2006 progress has been made, including the establishment of pediatric research networks. Upton says "we can and must do better."
