After Refueling Cook's Unit 2 Returns To Service

A refueling outage has gone off without a hitch at the Cook Nuclear Plant. Each unit is scheduled to be refueled every 18-months. Communications Manager Bill Schalk says this go-around was a bit different, as large-scale Life Cycle Management projects were being done during the outage. These included replacement of two Feedwater Heaters.


To complete the projects 1,900 contracted workers were brought in to help the regular 1,200-person plant staff. Unit 2 outage began October 2 and returned to operation Tuesday morning. The next unit to be refueled is Unit 1, which will be next fall.
