The City of Benton Harbor is asking citizens to help alleviate stress on the sewer system. A release from the Public Works Department appeals to all residents to refrain from disposing of cooking oils, especially shortening, down drains. The city wants to eliminate the practice as the seasons change, saying it becomes more challenging to fix the problem in colder weather. The City requests all oil be disposed using the trash collection provider - Reliable Disposal.
