State Trooper Hit Update

Any police officer will tell you there is no such thing as a "routine" traffic stop. Such was the case for Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Leonard Wednesday afternoon. The Motor Carrier Sergeant was hit while conducting a traffic stop on M-60 east of Southwestern Michigan College in Niles and was taken to South Bend's Memorial Hospital. According to our newsgathering partners at WNDU NewsCenter 16, an SUV ran into Leonard and the truck and boat he had pulled over. He tried to get out of the way, but was unable to do so. His injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.
