Between two and a half and 20 years in prison await a Niles man for his connection to a heroin overdose death in January. Joseph Dumond pled guilty earlier this year to delivering less than 50 grams of heroin and was sentenced this week. Ryan Wetzel died in a Niles motel room after taking the drugs. Dumond's girlfriend, Kali Heft, pled guilty to the same charges but her sentencing hearing was adjourned while the judge reviews sentencing guidelines. The couple also pled guilty to similar charges in Cass County for the heroin overdose death of Phillip Swanstrom in June 2012 in Niles and are awaiting sentencing there. In that case, Heft and Dumond say they gave Swanstrom heroin and Vicodin in exchange for a tattoo gun.
