Upton Describes Scene During U.S. Capitol Lockdown

Chaotic is one way the scene outside the U.S. Capitol is being described after a woman rammed the gates of the White House and led police on a 16-block chase before being shot by the U.S. Secret Service. The incident put the Capitol on lockdown briefly Thursday afternoon. We spoke to Congressman Fred Upton just minutes after the lockdown was lifted for a description of the scene, which he called "bizarre."

He added it didn't help the tense mood on Capitol Hill.

Upton was just walking back inside the Rayburn House Office Building when the sirens began going off. A U.S. Capitol Police officer was injured in a crash related to the chase. Several members of Congress, including Representative Justin Amash of the Grand Rapids area, took to Twitter to talk about what was going on as the scene unfolded.
