Upton Calls For Support Of Lifesaving Health Research Funding

As the House and Senate continue to work toward an agreement to end the federal government shutdown, Congressman Fred Upton is urging his colleagues to support the immediate continuation of funding for lifesaving health research.

The Research for Lifesaving Cures Act would provide immediate funding to the National Institutes of Health at the same rate and under the same conditions that were in effect at the end of the just completed fiscal year. Upton has long been a leading champion of national health research, dating back to the 1990's when he helped lead the successful bipartisan effort in doubling the budget for the NIH.
