Senator Levin: Tea Party Needs To Know Shutdown More Expensive

The blame game is underway on Capitol Hill in regard to the federal government shutdown. Democratic U.S. Senator Carl Levin of Michigan believes the shutdown is solely the fault of Tea Party-backed Republicans which he says have intimated others in the GOP into going along with their demands to defund and delay the Affordable Care Act in order to pass the resolution funding the government.

Levin says the Tea Party doesn't realize a shutdown is more expensive than keeping the government running.

He is calling on House Speaker John Boehner to allow an up-or-down vote in the House on the funding bill passed by the Senate that has no strings attached. Levin believes there are enough moderate Republicans in the House that will join with Democrats and pass that measure. WSJM News has reached out to Congressman Fred Upton for his thoughts, but while we believe we will hear from him today, we have not as yet.
