Hanson Hospice Center Nearly Ready

Within weeks, the Merlin and Carolyn Hanson Hospice Center is expected to open in Lincoln Township. The Hansons were among hundreds of donors funding the new facility, contributing $1.5 million of the $5.5 million to build the facility. Merlin Hanson tells WSJM News they had heard too many stories of bad experiences with end-of-life care and wanted to help.

Carolyn Hanson loves how the facility has turned out.

It's located on Cleveland Road, south of Glenlord in what was just months ago a wooded lot. The hospice center is a joint venture between Lakeland Hospital and Hospice at Home. It has 16 rooms, an abundance of windows for natural light, room for families to stay with loved ones and more. A public open house will be held Thursday afternoon.
