St. Joseph Approves New Bed And Breakfast

John Carolla has figured out a way around the city of St. Joseph's ban on short term rental properties. He's turning his home on Vine Street down by Lake Michigan into a Bed & Breakfast, with the blessing of the City Commission.

The commission voted unanimously Monday night to allow Carolla to open the Beach Train Bed and Breakfast after some modifications for parking. The city earlier this year banned any more short term rentals, with the main difference between a Bed and Breakfast and a short term rental being the homeowner has to be on-site. Bed and Breakfasts are allowed in all residential zoning areas of the city.
