Unwanted electronics are being asked for today by Andrews University. The school is holding a recycling event with Green Earth Electronics from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Transportation building on their campus in Berrien Springs. If you recycle an old computer or laptop, the hard drive will be wiped to Department of Defense standards or shredded. If you have an old tube television, it will cost you $10 to get rid of it, and old CRT computer monitors carry a $5 fee. Everything else is free. Donations of working refrigerators and freezers will be welcomed with a $30 utility rebate for Indiana Michigan Power, South Haven Public Works or Dowagiac Electric, and there's a $15 rebate for the same utilities for all working dehumidifier or room AC unit. Andrews is working to collect 75,000 pounds of electronics this year, and so far they've brought in 17,000.
