Sheriff's deputies in Van Buren County are trying to figure out what prompted a 20-year-old Bloomingdale man to jump out of a moving van Sunday night. It happened in Bloomingdale Township around 11 p.m. Sunday on 12th Avenue near 37th Street. The man is in stable condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. The van was going about 40 miles an hour when the man jumped out, suffering a severe cut to his head after hitting the pavement. He had to be airlifted to Kalamazoo. A 20-year-old relative was behind the wheel, and also didn't know why the man bailed out.
