Berrien County Administrator Bill Wolf is planning to release a report to the County Board of Commissioners on October 3rd on the county Road Commission. The report may lay the groundwork for the commission to take action to dissolve the Berrien County Road Commission as it currently stands and have the county take over. The agency has been rocked by controversy since June 2012 when a group of non-union employees filed grievances alleging a hostile work environment and mismanagement of local and federal road money. The U.S. Department of Transportation is also investigating. Three road commissioners and three managers lost their jobs last year as a result, and the man hired as the next managing director was fired this year after just six months in the position. Several County Commissioners have expressed a desire to have the county take over the Road Commission, Wolf tells WSJM News his report will not include any recommendations. He will jut be laying out the options available.
