Palisades Remains Offline While Inspections Take Place And Nozzles Are Replaced



A half inch long crack to a weld, that's why radioactive water was leaking from a tank at Palisades power plant recently. Congressman Fred Upton and Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner Kristine Svinicki toured the plant Monday. Them, along with Palisades Chief Operating Officer Tim Mitchell, explained there are over 510-feet of welds on the tank floor. All of them are being inspected.

The plant remains offline, the tank inspection is onging and Upton says there is no time frame on that.

Mitchell says the crack was close to a special nozzle on the floor, that along with two similar nozzles are being replaced.
