For the second time in a few weeks, a Berrien County Sheriff's Department employee has been busted for alleged drunk driving. The latest is a retired sergeant who is employed part-time by the department. Michigan State Police have asked that we don't release the suspect's name until the arraignment, scheduled for May 13. State Police troopers made the arrest around 12:30 Saturday morning near the intersection of Hilltop and Cleveland in St. Joseph Township, and suspect's blood-alcohol levels were .21 and .22 in two tests at the Niles Post. It's expected the arraignment will be done in Van Buren County, as requested by Berrien County Prosecutor Art Cotter. The sheriff's department has placed the employee on administrative leave.
