After Sunday's water tank leak, Congressman Fred Upton is requesting Nuclear Regulatory Commission members visit the Palisades Power Plant. Along with Upton, NRC Commissioner Kristine Svinicki will tour the facility Monday, May 13. The plant went offline after 79 gallons of "mildly radioactive" water got into Lake Michigan. Officials say the leak posed no threat to public safety or the environment. Upton has called for the facility to remain offline until the problem is permanently fixed. Both Upton and Svinicki will talk with the media after the visit.
