Honor Credit Union Awards Scholarships For Active Volunteers

Ten area graduating high school seniors are sharing $10,000 in scholarship money from Honor Credit Union. Honor CEO Scott McFarland says the grants are based on how active the students are in the community.

McFarland says grade point averages are used in deciding the scholarships, but community involvement is the top factor. He says they are not needs based, so they're open to everyone who is able to qualify for a membership at the credit union. McFarland says the scholarships are awarded to students throughout their service area, which stretches from Berrien County north to Muskegon County and as far east as Coldwater in Branch County.
