Dowagiac Area History Museum Is Opening Doors To New Location



In accordance with the freshly developed downtown district in Dowagiac, the Dowagiac Area History Museum is opening at its new location. At the former Behnke Paint and Floor Covering Store, the museum opens Monday, May 13 at 201 East Division Street. The museum's official opening will be held during the community’s 22nd annual Dogwood Fine Arts Festival. Museum Director Steve Arseneau says some local dignitaries will speak at the opening.

The 1908 Dowagiac-made Lindsley Automobile will be featured in the ground floor Industrial Dowagiac exhibit, along with the Dowagiac Drill Company, Heddon Bait Company and Furnace City. The highlight of the floor will be displays of the Round Oak Stove Company. The museum is free to enter Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
