The next speaker for the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan is currently unemployed, but will still be in the area on May 9th. He's Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, who was released Monday by the New York Jets of the NFL after they were unable to find a team willing to make a trade for the backup quarterback. Tebow has struggled to fit in during his NFL career, as his style has not been compatible with either the Jets or the Denver Broncos. Economic Club officials refused an interview, but did say Tebow is still scheduled to speak despite his being released. Club members have already heard from former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, comedian Bill Cosby and Martha Stewart this year, and Whirlpool's chairman and CEO Jeff Fettig will be the season's final speaker on June 11. Speakers in the past have included every former U.S. President since 1975 with the exception of Ronald Reagan, several former British prime ministers and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
